Vehicles registered in Great Britain or Northern Ireland do not need to display a GB sticker to drive in Ireland. UK drivers and operators should ensure that they have Green Cards for all vehicles and trailers that may be operated in the EU. Contact motor insurance providers 6 weeks before travel to get a Green Card for vehicles and trailers. UK drivers can operate in most EU countries without the need for a visa or a work permit, providing they do not spend more than 90 days in the EU within any 180-day period. However, visa and work permit arrangements for undertaking paid work in the EU is a matter for individual EU countries. If in any doubt, operators should check with the embassy of each country in which they plan drivers for windows to undertake work before travelling. UK drivers need at least 6 months on a UK passport to travel to the EU.
